Operation Vigilance: Sex offender checks made in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and other counties

Check of 186 sex offenders in Lyon County and Fallon results in one arrest, 26 not in compliance

The multi-agency collaborative effort, called "Operation Vigilance" was done to verify sex offender registration compliance and was conducted in Dayton, Silver Springs, Yerington, Fernley, Stagecoach and Fallon.

Sex offender sweep in Carson City results in 226 compliance checks, two arrests
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 08/03/2015 - 2:06pmLaw enforcement officers from around the region participated in a sex offender sweep late last week known as Operation Vigilance, a multi-agency collaborative effort to verify sex offender registration compliance around Carson City.
The joint effort resulted in 226 sex offender compliance checks. As a result of Operation Vigilance, 2 supervised offenders were arrested for violating their parole or probation terms and conditions, said Lt. Jorge Pierrott of Nevada Parole and Probation Northern Command in Carson City.

National Night Out heightens crime and drug prevention awareness, community safety and, as in the case of Carson City, strengthens police-community partnerships. This award is the latest in the list of recognitions Carson City Sheriff’s Office received for the 2010 event including Congressional Awards from Congressman Dean Heller and a Letter of Commendation from Senator John Ensign.
