Blinky Man bicycles light up the night during annual Carson City ride

The annual costume nighttime bike ride took to the streets at 7:30 p.m. and after stopping at a number of bars and pubs throughout Carson City, concluded around midnight. Riders dressed themselves in neon colors, tutus and crazy hats. They also also adorned their bikes in lights to illuminate their nighttime ride.

Slain Vegas officers to be honored in Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 04/27/2015 - 11:52amTwo Las Vegas Metro police officers shot and killed in an ambush while eating lunch at a pizza restaurant June 8, 2014 will be honored in a memorial on Thursday, May 7, at the 18th Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony held on the Capitol grounds in Carson City.
The service will honor Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo, among the 128 Nevada Peace Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. In 1998, the memorial was dedicated on the Capitol grounds to recognize the ultimate sacrifice these officers made in service of their communities.

Williams will demonstrate how he creates tule duck decoys from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 17 in Carson City at the Nevada Legislative Building, in a free SENarts “Work of Artists” event co-sponsored by the Nevada Arts Council and Capital City Arts Initiative.

So far as I have been keeping a journal, there has always been snow or a heavy frost on the ground on the last Saturday in April, otherwise known as opening day fishing season in California.

These soldiers were all children once…they stood in that first pair of shoes, released supports, leaned into the wind of unknowing, wobbled that first step toward war.” Literary work by Breeden and other Nevada writers accompany photographs of the nearly 7,000 U.S military Iraq and Afghanistan war dead since Sept.11, 2001, all part of the nationally touring arts and humanities exhibition “Always Lost: A Meditation on War.”

Outdoors with Don Q: Heat, fruit, traffic and travel this winter

In those past years, it was a welcomed change from the ice, snow and cold of this general area to the warmth and lushness of the desert southwest.

I have not had the opportunity to fish myself for a few weeks and the reports that I have received are not that encouraging. I will give you what reports I have and give you personal tips on other waters. I will tell you one thing though. I will be fishing this weekend somewhere to rid myself of fishing withdrawals.

This time of year is usually the best time to fish for bigger mackinaw at Lake Tahoe.
