Millennium Bugs to Perform Sept. 7 at Silver Oak in Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 09/05/2012 - 1:44amThe Millennium Bugs, a five-piece combo affiliated with the Mile High Jazz Band, will perform on Friday, Sept. 7, 7:00 to 10 p.m., at Silver Oak Golf Club and Event Center, 1251 Country Club Drive, Carson City. Admission is free.
The musicians are Gil Linsley, trumpet; Dan Lancaster, sax, flute, clarinet; David Bugli, keyboard; Charles DiLaura, bass; and Neil Strocchio, drums. The group plays a variety of jazz styles for listening and dancing.
Fallon man, South Lake Tahoe woman identified in Monday fatal motorcycle crashes

HopeFest tonight to benefit Carson City area cancer patients

HopeFest, an annual benefit concert that will feature the music of Mo5aic and The Cutters, is one of the Carson City's biggest fundraising events with 100 percent of the money raised going directly to supports local cancer patients in need.
Fatal motorcycle accidents on Highway 50, Mount Rose Highway tie up homebound holiday traffic from Lake Tahoe
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 09/03/2012 - 3:24pmUPDATE: 5:09PM: A female passenger on a motorcycle died this Labor Day and the driver was seriously injured on Highway 50 near Glenbrook, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. In a separate accident on Mount Rose Highway a motorcyclist has also died.
The Highway 50 accident, reported at 3:13 Monday afternoon near Logan Creek on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe, shut down traffic in the eastbound lane. Traffic, as of 5 p.m. continued to be diverted to the westbound lane, said NHP Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

She had perfect attendance, was efficient and helpful to customers. About six months ago, she showed up late and was unfocused and inattentive. She got suspended for two days.
Two weeks later, the same thing happened. She didn’t listen to what customers were saying. She was suspended for two weeks. And then a week after that, she got suspended for 30 days.
Carson City leaders to discuss letter to governor on unfunded mandates, shift in services

Carson City leaders will consider drafting a letter to Gov. Brian Sandoval with copies to the city's legislators, about changes made at the state level which have cut services and have required local governments, such as Carson City, to pick up the tab.

Carson City authorities launch DUI saturation patrols, checkpoint for Labor Day weekend

Beginning Thursday through Sept. 5, patrol officers will be out in full force as part of a citywide crackdown on drunk driving. Saturation patrols, as they are called, aim to identify, stop and remove drunk and impaired drivers, said Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Darrin Sloan in a news release.

Although short, this stretch of road is currently one of the more dangerous areas in town for cyclists and pedestrians. Safe and well used bicycle facilities exist on either side of Lone Mountain, but cyclists must brave fast traffic and a crumbling shoulder if they wish to connect the two areas. And although pedestrians are instructed not to use this route, no other reasonable routes exist nearby.

Woman slams car into pedestrian, gas station in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/21/2012 - 5:30pmA woman is in custody and a pedestrian was flown by air ambulance from South Lake Tahoe this afternoon after a hit and run accident that happened on 12th and Emerald Bay Road near James Street shortly before 5 Tuesday.
The suspect allegedly hit the pedestrian and then sped away and was chased by South Lake Tahoe Police Officer Donna Kingman. The suspect then crashed the Subaru she was driving into a tree near Tahoe Island and then, blowing stop signs and failing to stop for police, crashed the car into the front of the Chevron Station at 2070 James near Eloise.

Operation Green Light will further develop and strengthen regional partnerships and enhance emergency preparedness, response, and prevention capabilities, according to Nevada Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Gail Powell. Participating counties include Carson City, Douglas, Elko, Humboldt, Lyon, Pershing, Storey and Washoe.
