Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

On the docket today we've got a canned food drive to help the Ron Wood Center, a volunteer day to restore the Mills Park train, a Mother's Day Plant Sale, and more! We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Daylight Savings Time is about to begin, harkening the approach of Spring. Winter, though, continues its stubborn hold on the region, so bundle up this weekend in spite the extra hour of daylight. There's a chance of snow showers throughout the weekend with daytime highs only into the low 40s.

And remember to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night!

The thunderous roar of jet engines will rumble across the skies above Carson City and the Carson Valley this weekend as the famed U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight team headlines the 2018 Aviation Roundup at the Minden-Tahoe Airport.

The Carson Mall Wine Walk is a monthly event held the second Saturday of each month at the Carson Mall, 1313 S. Carson Street in Carson City.
