The Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee meets tonight, Monday, at 5:30 p.m. p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center.

At the meeting committee members will discuss and give their recommendations to the Carson City Board of Supervisors regarding the conceptual design of the Refresh Carson downtown plan for Carson Street between William and Fifth streets. The committee will vote to recommend allowing city staff to continue to develop more detailed design elements of the plan.

Residents get glimpse of coming changes to downtown Carson City landscape

With a packed house and lots of questions, Carson City residents had a chance Tuesday to see what enhanced downtown landscaping, street and sidewalk improvements would look like in a planned redesign of downtown.

The Carson Street improvement project is part of an overall plan to revitalize the commercial corridors throughout Carson City. The improvements, made public during two workshops at the Carson City Community Center, will be funded through sales tax revenues, one-eighth of a cent, approved earlier this by the Carson City Board of Supervisors.

District Attorney presents DAWG program to Carson City Board of Supervisors

At the Aug. 28 meeting of the Carson City Board Supervisors, the District Attorney’s Office presented its newest component to its Victim Witness Services unit.

DAWG, which is an acronym for District Attorney Witness Guide, was introduced by District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo, along with Subaru, a 2-year-old Labrador retriever.

Monday forum to discuss Carson City medical marijuana dispensaries

Have questions about the state's marijuana laws and the new city ordinance? Join Partnership Carson City and Sierra Nevada Forums for a special forum Monday that will address these and more.

The July 14 forum, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center, will present an explanation of the Nevada Revised Statute 453A relating to medical marijuana, and the new Carson City ordinance outlining the zoning for medical marijuana production and distribution facilities as they relate to the future of medical marijuana in Carson City.

Carson City agrees to allow zoning for medical marijuana establishments

An ordinance allowing for two medical marijuana dispensaries and facilities allowing for cultivation was approved Thursday in a 4 to 1 vote by the Carson City Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Jim Shirk switched his position from the first reading, arguing against allowing for cultivation facilities saying that Carson City will be home to businesses from other counties who have opted out of allowing for medical marijuana.

Buyer emerges for Empire Ranch Golf Course

Silver Oak Golf Course owner Garth Richards has taken steps to buy the struggling Empire Ranch Golf Course, according to documents submitted this week to the Carson City Assessor's Office.

GSR Investments, a company connected with Richards, owner of Silver Oak Golf Course, has bought the deed of trust to the struggling 27-hole Empire Ranch Golf Course and has paid outstanding taxes owed to the city.

Carson City Supervisors agree to first reading of medical marijuana zoning areas

The Carson City Board of Supervisors tentatively agreed Thursday to allow limited zoning for marijuana dispensaries, cultivation, production and testing facilities within the city limits.

The motion, made by Supervisor Karen Abowd was unanimous. It was agreed to as a first reading and will come back to the board for a second reading of the vote, which will be an evening session.
