23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Please leave your donation of non-perishable food items at your mail box and your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to local community outreach centers.
Google pays tribute to 155th anniversary of Pony Express with Google Doodle
Submitted by editor on Tue, 04/14/2015 - 12:11pmIf you're using Google today you will notice its latest Google Doodle, which celebrates the 155th year of the Pony Express and, notably, was celebrated April 3 in Carson City with the launch of the nation's first active station of the Pony Express, now in Carson City at the Nevada Day Store and Trading Post.

Beginning next month the Pony Express will become a permanent fixture and a Carson City visitor destination.

Reno Tahoe Helicopters Receives Air Carrier Certification

This certification allows the company to offer charter services for air taxi in the United States, and serving the Northern California/Reno area, including tours to Napa, Calistoga, and Sonoma.
“We are the only operators in the area to have the Air Carrier Certification. We are proud to be able to offer our clients the expanded services of air taxi,” said Claudio Bellotto, Chief Pilot and Owner of Reno Tahoe Helicopters/HeliMinden.

Just like us, our pets are vulnerable to injury when involved in a vehicle crash. We take the time to make sure that our children are buckled in and secured in their child safety seats so why do we forget to do the same for our pets?

Ronald McDonald House receives furnace, thermostat donations

Sierra Air, Inc., Carrier Corporation and Sigler Wholesale Distributors coordinated the procurement, transportation and installation of the energy-efficient components, providing approximately $23,209 of cost savings in equipment, material and labor.

The title is sarcastic, the article really expressing the author’s frustrations with driving in our city. While the points made in the article are valid, they’re certainly not unique to Carson City. C-SPAN’s video-journalists aim to capture Carson City’s history and literary journey as told by local historians, published authors and long-time residents. Collected stories will air August 3 and 4 on Charter channels 235 and 236 on C-SPAN’s American History TV and Book TV.

They flew roundtrip from Reno to San Diego with some great internet discount tickets from Southwest Airlines.
Then at the airport, the hotel shuttle picked them up and took the two of them to the Wyndham Hotel, which is located on the edge of the harbor.
Saturday is 21st Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

All the food collected goes to local organizations that help feed the hungry in our community. This year Advocates to End Domestic Violence, F.I.S.H., and the Ron Wood Center will be participating.
Update: Abused puppy 'Duncan' dies, Carson Tahoe SPCA reports

Governor Sandoval declares state of emergency for extreme cold in Nevada

“The declaration is a precautionary measure to ensure propane truck operators can support the needs of Nevada citizens during this prolonged cold weather pattern,” Sandoval said.

Born on the Fourth of July: Veteran remembers service
Submitted by Karel on Wed, 07/04/2012 - 8:38amWilbur Lane came into the world July 4, 1921 and is one of a handful of remaining World War II veterans who served on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which entered the war Dec.7, 1941 when her planes found the Japanese squadrons attacking Pearl Harbor.
“It was the most decorated ship of WWII, called The Galloping Ghost because (the Japanese) couldn’t find us,” Lane said from his home in Dayton. “Every time they bombed us, they’d announce it on the radio in Japan.”
