Chautauqua characters Snowshoe Thompson, Lillian Virgin and Anna Harris return to Genoa, Nev., on Saturday, Nov. 23 5 p.m., at the Genoa Town Hall.

This Chautauqua event features Genoa residents of the past. Chautauquans include Steve Hale as Snowshoe Thompson, the legendary “Mailman of the Sierra”, Kim Harris as Lillian Virgin, the originator of the Genoa Candy Dance and DebiLynn Smith as Anna Harris, early Genoa pioneer business owner.

In an effort to promote public safety by preventing contact between children and supervised sex offenders, officers from the Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation conducted the 15th annual operation Scarecrow on Oct. 31, 2019.

The 2019 season for CHS girls golf was a great experience for everyone on the team. This year, the team was comprised of five girls: Karen Beglin, Sophia Taggart, Karrina Ferris, Brooke Gudmundson, myself, and our coaches, Wade Greenlee and Jack Butler.

Operation Scarecrow: Law enforcement to conduct child sex offender checks in Carson City, Washoe County

In an effort to provide enhanced safety for children and to give the public a greater sense of security during Halloween evening, officers from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation, will conduct Operation Scarecrow on Oct. 31, 2019, in Carson City and the Reno, Sparks areas of Washoe County.

The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.
