Street Vibes and the Candy Dance are always the endcap to September. Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. All the other corners of Northern Nevada are a playground for the thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts here to enjoy the bike rally. Battle Born Harley on Research Way offers a huge party without ever leaving the valley. Those two events are hardly all that Carson City and our neighboring counties have to offer, however. Labor Day weekend is almost upon us, signaling the unofficial end of summer. It’s still nice outside, so enjoy an easy hike up Lakeview's Hobart Road with Muscle Powered. WNC students are treated to a back-to-school BBQ with a bounce house and rock climbing wall. Kids won’t want to miss Lego Club at the Carson City Library this afternoon. The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County began its annual back pack and school supply distribution Tuesday with around half of what was collected last year, organizers say.

Join the Nevada Rural Housing Authority and Carson City Cruise - Meet and Greet at 'A Place To Shine Inaugural Fundraiser Show N Shine' at Carson High School, 1111 S. Saliman Rd. in Carson City. Registration of cars/trucks, motorcycles, and lowrider bikes on the day of show ranges from $20-$30. The event is free for spectators. For the participants with LOW vehicles, the registration entrance does NOT have any dips and/or bumps.

Community health service agencies and providers from around the area will be in one place Saturday, Aug. 6 during the second annual “Hand Up” Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mills Park Marv Teixeira Pavilion in Carson City.

Carson City celebrates the opening of Bob McFadden Plaza, located on Third Street between Carson and Curry Streets this Saturday, July 30 with a full schedule of events. Proceeds from the celebration will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Blustery Nevada winds tested the mettle of temporary shelters set up on the tarmac at the Carson City Airport's annual Open House event Saturday, but they did not deter a large crowd of morning visitors who came to partake in the festivities.

Members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity rolled into Carson City Friday as part of a cross-country bicycling tour — Journey of Hope — to support people with disabilities. The bikers made a quick stop at the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada on Friday and have now pedaled their way to Western Nevada College for an evening filled with events and entertainment.

Aviation and aerospace displays, historic aircraft, formation fliers, hot air balloon rides, a pancake breakfast and more will be featured this Saturday at the Carson City Airport Open House.

With well over 6,000 visitors attending last year, this year’s event is expected will be bigger with a bevy of activities including interactive displays, flybys, plane and helicopter demonstrations, drone demonstrations, food and beverages, a bounce house and many family activities.

For the third straight year, Western Nevada College will welcome a group of cross-country bicyclists and the public to support people with disabilities through its participation in the Journey of Hope friendship visit.

The cross-country cycling trip by The Ability Experience visits WNC’s Carson City Campus from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 17. WNC and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities will present a number of activities inside and outside of Joe Dini Student Center to celebrate the cycling team’s friendship visit.

The American Cancer Society will be holding its annual celebration for cancer survivors and caregivers at Relay for Life. The event will be held at Mills Park in Carson City on Saturday, May 21. Relay for Life is a family-friendly event with entertainment, food, games, raffles, bounce house, and other activities included.

As the weather warms, so does heat dished up this weekend with all the right spices at the 33rd annual Chili on the Comstock in Virginia City.

Sunday is fun day. Get ready for springtime flowers with the Anniversary Sale at Greenhouse Garden Center.
