Appeal For Kids 2015 campaign to Benefit Austin’s House
Submitted by editor on Thu, 10/22/2015 - 2:18pmAustin’s House in Carson Valley is celebrating eight years of providing compassionate care in Douglas County and nearby rural counties for children in crisis with the annual giving campaign, the 2015 Appeal For Kids. The 10-bedroom facility opened in September 2007 and was built entirely with donations from the community.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Deputies make drug and DUI arrests over the weekend
Submitted by editor on Mon, 10/05/2015 - 10:49amA 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 7 a.m. at Carson City jail on gross misdemeanor charges of interfering with a police officer and battery of a police officer, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, the suspect had reversed kicked his cell door and took swings at a deputy, hitting him in the back of the head.
Pedestrians share responsibility in walking sober to their destinations

We have been doing this using both education and enforcement to get the message across to both the driver and the pedestrian.

Talk of a “Monster El Niño” has everyone stoked for winter. Thoughts of checking and tuning the gear begin to creep into our minds. Before each snow season there is one question we often forget to ask ourselves…are we physically ready? A lot of mountain enthusiasts attempt to keep in shape by hitting the trails, bike riding, paddle boarding or other adventurous outdoor activities, while others enjoy the off season in a different way.

Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/26/2015 - 11:27amA 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 3:38 a.m. in the 3200 block of Market Street on a misdemeanor charge, driving under the influence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies patrolling the area of North Roop and Northridge were advised of a possible suicidal subject driving a vehicle.
BLM extends public input period for Pine Nut Mountains wild horse herd plan

The herd management plan area, prepared by the Sierra Front Field Office, is located south of Dayton and east of Carson City.

Learn about your core (what the heck does that mean, anyway?) how to move in and out of basic poses, and learn a few classic introductory yoga postures. There will be opportunity to modify all poses and movements based on the needs of your body – learn how to adapt yoga to what your body needs instead of trying to fit your body into an unrealistic pose. We will include elements of strength, flexibility, balance, and breath, and will always end with a bit of relaxation.

Trump’s Wrong; We Need Many More Legal Immigrants

We take strong exception to all that. And, having labored long in the political fields with other dedicated limited-government conservatives and Republicans, we know those are not the views of most of our folks.
America has not always welcomed legal immigrants with open arms, but we should -- now more than ever. Overall, they are a blessing to us just as America is a blessing to them.

NDOT breaks ground on final leg of Carson City Freeway project

Road crews will pave and open the last four miles of the freeway to traffic between Fairview Drive and the Spooner, Highway 50 junction in south Carson City, including construction of sound walls and drainage features. The project is expected to complete, opening the final segment of freeway to traffic, in 2017, according to NDOT. It is being constructed by contractors Road and Highway Builders.
