Storey County cancels Virginia City Fireworks amid COVID-19 concerns, Cruise to continue as planned

According to Storey County Commissioner Jay Carmona the fireworks show in Virginia City has been canceled today as of 1 p.m. The Cruise will be continuing as planned.

According to Carmona, there was an issue with releasing the cancellation announcement but the fireworks are indeed cancelled this year.

A 51-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI following an incident at a North Carson Street pizza takeout restaurant.

Central Lyon first responders save riders from ATV crash near Sutro Tunnel

Yesterday Central Lyon County Fire Department responded to the Sutro Tunnel area for reports of an ATV accident. Crews were able to get all four occupants out to safety where they all received medical care.

NHP identifies victim, investigates fatal crash Sunday in Dayton

On Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash involving a pedestrian on US-50 and Mark Twain Avenue in Dayton.

A Go Fund Me account has been established for a Dayton man who was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash as he was returning home on an ATV on Highway 50. The incident is currently being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

NHP: One dead in Dayton crash involving pedestrian who had been on an ATV

UPDATE: This matter is under investigation. According to NHP a man was on an ATV and for an unknown reason he was dismounted from the ATV and struck by two vehicles. The drivers of the two vehicles pulled over. NHP is investigating that the ATV driver was initially hit earlier by a vehicle, that fled the scene and that the victim was hit again by the two other vehicles (which then stopped.) We will update as more information becomes available.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a pedestrian fatality that happened Sunday night in the area of Highway 50 and Mark Twain Avenue in Dayton.

An NHP spokeswoman said the rider of an ATV had dismounted from the vehicle and was in a travel lane when he was struck by two vehicles.

The Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles Program, within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is excited to recognize Stan Harger of the Kokopelli ATV Club with its first-ever Trail Partner of the Year award.

Nevada game wardens are seeking information about a bull elk that was poached and left to rot near the Pearson Ranch late August in Lincoln County. Operation Game Thief is offering a $2,000 reward to help catch the shooter.
