Piper Johnson and Susan Watson are partnering up to host a three day/three night art retreat at St. Mary’s Art Center in Virginia City. Painters are welcome to choose oil painting in plein air, acrylic abstracts in the studio, or try both!

St. Mary’s Art Center has been home to art retreats and art classes since 1964. Located in the beautiful, historic 1876 former hospital, this Comtock gem is the perfect location to relax, learn, create, and connect.

All levels of painting experience are welcome; some painting experience recommended.

Brewery Arts Center offers 6-week sculpture workshop

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is adding a sculpture class to their expanding repertoire of art classes by partnering with master sculptor Debbie Corona of the Carson Valley Mobile Art Center to create a six-week sculpture workshop.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

Come and join Rachael and Debbie Lambin of My Thousand Words this Saturday, June 29 as they teach you to make a beautiful flower vase that is both 3D as well as 2D.

Students will make paper flowers (3D) and paint a vase to put them in on a canvas lots of fun! The event is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Western Nevada College's Carson City campus, second floor of the Aspen Building.

Carson City’s Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada unveils new mural by artist Zet Gold

A new mural has been unveiled in Carson City at the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada by artist-in-residence Zet Gold, who is based from Las Vegas. The Nevada Art Council commissioned the mural for the club, which was finished in a week along with a smaller mural on the windows of the teen center.
