Nevada State Police identifies Gardnerville man in early Saturday fatal crash on US-395
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division has released the name of the victim who died in a vehicle crash that happened Saturday morning on Highway 395 in Douglas County.
Kevin Skogmo, 52, a resident of Gardnerville, died at the scene of the crash, reported at 5:10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 on Highway 395 and mile marker 9, according to Nevada State Police.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2018 GMC Sierra K2500 Denali pickup truck was traveling southbound on US395 near MM09. A silver 2019 Nissan Rogue driven by Kevin Skogmo was traveling northbound on US395, approaching the GMC.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, for reasons unconfirmed, allowed the GMC to cross over the centerline and into the path of the Nissan, according to the preliminary investigation. The left front of the GMC struck the left front of the Nissan, causing the Nissan to overturn. Skogmo died at the scene.
The driver of the GMC remained on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, according to Nevada State Police.
