Carson City woman jailed on felony stolen property charges

A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday on multiple felony charges related to a burglary in which jewelry was stolen and allegedly sold to a pawn shop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Bexy Barbara Mora was arrested Tuesday, 2:12 p.m. in the 200 block of South Carson Meadows. She faces felonies charges of two counts possession of stolen property, one count obtaining money under false pretenses, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She’s being held on $73,632 bail.

Victoria Julia Mora, 37, was also arrested on felony charges of parole violation and possession of methamphetamine. There was also a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She’s being held without bail on the parole violation charge and $3,632 on the drug charges.

According to the arrest report, officers made contact with the suspects at the Carson Meadows residence after locating a vehicle that was believed to be involved with a burglary case detectives had been working on.

The women gave officers consent to search the residence. Officers found a small amount of methamphetamine and meth pipes with residue. The detective on the case concluded his investigation and charged Bexy Mora with the stolen property crimes related to a burglary and pawning the property and the drug charges. Both were taken to jail.

In other arrests: a 33-year-old Carson City man, Israel Pluma Gonzalez, was taken into custody at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Long and Stewart streets on a felony charge of home invasion.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Westwood Drive regarding a burglary in progress. The victim was at the residence house sitting when Pluma-Gonzalez, her ex-boyfriend, arrived. She told deputies he knocked on the front door but the victim did not open the door.

He then walked to a window of the residence and began yelling through the window. He then allegedly removed the screen from the window and opened it, jumping through and knocking over a plant and picture frame on the wall, the arrest report states.

He continued to yell at the victim but saw another male inside. He then jumped in the air and landed on the glass picture frame, breaking it, and then went back out through the open window and left the residence.

A deputy located the suspect within a couple minutes as he was driving a vehicle at Long and Peters streets, according to the arrest report. Pluma-Gonzalez faces a felony charge of home invasion. Bail: $20,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man, Geoffrey Larsen, was arrested Tuesday, 11:48 p.m. in the 1600 block of Airport Road on three felony charges including parole and probation violation, a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, and giving false identification to avoid prosecution. He also faces a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area on a report of a subject running and yelling for help. Officers arrived and observed a man running east across a parking lot. The officer told the man to stop with negative results. The officer chased the man, caught, cuffed and detained him.

Officers learned that Larsen had been house sitting in an apartment. He said someone came to the door, opened it and sprayed him with pepper spray and then took off running. As it turns out, the somebody was a drug dealer who sprayed him with the pepper spray after attempting to sell him methamphetamine, according to the arrest report.

While telling his story, Larsen had given deputies the name of someone else which was run through dispatch. An officer told the man he wasn’t being truthful. He then told the officer his real name and date of birth.

Dispatch confirmed Larsen had a confirmed parole and probation warrant and he was to be arrested without bail on the warrant and a no bail warrant issued out of drug court. Officers found a “tooter” straw in his possession, which is commonly used to inhale methamphetamine. He was arrested on three felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.

— A 63-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 5:49 p.m. in the 3400 block of Baker Drive on suspicion of preventing a victim of domestic battery from reporting a crime and misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, officers were called after dispatch received a 911 call from the victim who attempted to report a domestic battery between herself and her husband. The woman said she had been kicked by by her husband. The woman told dispatch they were separated for a moment and she was calling from a bedroom.

At one point the line was disconnected. Dispatch attempted multiple times to re-establish phone contact. In one attempt, a dispatcher could her the woman tell the man to “leave the phone alone.” A struggle was heard in the background before the line went dead and was shut off, the arrest report states.

Officers arrived and attempted to talk with the two, who were separated. The woman told the officer that her husband was very aggressive with her and had kicked her, landing a blow to the bottom of her foot when she tried to block it. No visible injury was observed, according to the arrest report.

The man told officers they had been arguing but denied he kicked his wife. He told the officers that it was his wife who was breaking the law, by calling 911 because he said there was no physical contact between the two and therefore police shouldn’t be involved.

He confirmed the phone rang several times after he initially disconnected the line and knew it was probably dispatch but he repeated he did not feel the police needed to be involved.

The man insisted he was innocent and did nothing wrong. He was informed that even though he didn’t want the police involved, the woman had the right to call for help and that law enforcement was obligated to respond and investigate. Bail: $8,137.

Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
