Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for striking 18 year-old with belt

A 44 year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning at 3:31 a.m. in the 2600 block of Sycamore Glen Drive for misdemeanor first-offense domestic battery, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, an 18 year-old woman was reportedly struck with a belt by the suspect, who was refusing to allow her in a dating relationship with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend had made contact with a deputy at the Sheriff's Office about the dispute with the suspect. During that contact, the girlfriend had sent a text message to the boyfriend, reporting that the suspect had just hit her with a belt.

At that point, deputies responded to the girlfriend's residence on Sycamore Glen to check on her welfare and investigate possible domestic battery.

Contact was made with the suspect and the victim upon arrival. The suspect told deputies he did not want the victim to date her boyfriend, believing the latter would get the former involved in drugs, the report said.

The suspect also stated that the victim was not obeying his rules for bed time, so he struck her once with his belt.

Deputies then interviewed the victim, who said she had returned home late from work and had been seated on the living room couch messaging her boyfriend when the suspect began arguing with her that it was too late for her to be texting.

The victim stated that the suspect then grabbed his belt, hitting her on the left and right thighs as well as on her lower back, the report said.

Another family member had intervened at that point and the suspect stopped hitting her with the belt, the victim reported, but he then forcefully pushed her into a wall with both hands. Bruising was visible on the victim's left and right thighs, the report said.

The suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody. He was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked without further incident. Bail: $3,137.
