Carson City sheriff's deputies make felony and misdemeanor warrant arrests
A 32-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday for a felony, non-fugitive warrant and for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Deputies responded just after midnight to the 2600 block of Highway 50 East for a welfare check. The reporting party stated his friend, Sarah Carroll, texted him and told him her ex-boyfriend was holding her against her will. She described the vehicle as a maroon GMC SUV with smashed windows.
Deputies located the matching vehicle in the parking lot of a business. The vehicle's registration was suspended, according to dispatch. The deputy went inside of the business and spoke a man who identified himself through his Nevada driver's license, the report states.
The deputy asked if he was there with Sarah. The man stated he was and identified Sarah waiting in line to check out. The deputy then spoke with the woman, who identified herself with another name. She stated she did not know the man and was not there with him, according to the report.
When deputies ran the name the female suspect provided, dispatch advised there was no person with that name and date of birth.
Once deputies established the woman was not being held against her will, the deputy prepared to leave the business. As he went outside, a person began shouting to Sarah and calling her by name. The officer asked the person who the woman was, as she previously identified herself with another name, the arrest report states.
The person identified the woman. Dispatch ran the name where it returned with a confirmed felony warrant out of Reno Justice Court. The warrant was issued on June 27, 2022 and was for $15,000. As the deputy was attempting to get the information, the female suspect left in the vehicle.
The deputy followed the vehicle and activated their emergency lights and stopped it because of the suspended registration as well as the woman having a warrant. Deputies asked Sarah to step out of the vehicle. During a pat down search for weapons the deputy observed a pipe, commonly known as a "tooter straw" sticking out of her pocket. During a search incident to arrest the woman for the warrant, the deputy also found tinfoil with burnt residue in the woman's pocket.
She was placed under arrest. The woman was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital to be medically cleared because she stated she may have a heart attack due to pre-existing heart conditions being aggravated by detoxing off of Fentanyl, the arrest report states. Once the woman was cleared by hospital staff she was taken to jail. Bail; $15,000 cash.
