Carson City man jailed for possession of fake $100 bills, suspected stolen credit cards

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of multiple felony offenses including possession of counterfeit money and possession of debit and credit cards that did not belong to him, a sheriff's deputy report states.

John Eric Foster was taken into custody at 4:04 p.m. in the 2700 block of Highway 50 East. He also faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, using another person's identification to delay prosecution and a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest out of Sparks Township.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle with suspended registration. The deputy made contact with the driver and passenger. Foster, the passenger, provided a name and date of birth that came back from dispatch without a match. The man was asked to exit the vehicle, and was going to be checked for weapons. Foster then told the deputy he gave a different name that wasn't his. He was detained. His correct name was run through dispatch where he had a confirmed warrant for his arrest out of Sparks, the report states.

The driver gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, where the suspect's wallet was located under the front passenger seat. Inside was a Nevada driver's license, and Oregon license and a veteran's identification card that did not belong to him, as well as several credit card and debit cards with different names on them. Also located were four $100 counterfeit bills, and a fifth bill ripped up, the report states.

The arresting officer read the man his Miranda warning and he agreed to speak. He said the wallet belongs to two people that he lives with, and stated there is fake dollar bills inside the wallet, a friend's identification and a relative's driver's license. He was asked about the different credit and debit cards belonging to different people.

The suspect said he found them at a store parking lot. Also located was a receipt belonging to him which showed he had pawned a laptop computer on Dec. 5, the report states. He was taken to jail. During booking and a search deputies located a clear plastic bag that contained suspected methamphetamine. The man advised the methamphetamine belonged to him. Total bail amount listed: $27,920.

In other arrests:
— A 26-year-old transient, Samantha Ann Whiteheart, was booked Saturday for suspicion of using identification of another person to avoid prosecution, a felony. According to the arrest report, the woman, who has been in custody at Carson City Jail, advised that she wanted to talk.

She was read her Miranda rights, which she agreed to speak and provided her real name and date of birth, which she had not done since being arrested. She stated to the officer she had refused to give her real name and gave a different name because she did not want to go back to Idaho or Oregon because she had warrants for her arrest, the report states.

She was booked into Carson City Jail on Oct. 3 and provided a name that wasn't hers and had every opportunity to come forward with her real name, the arrest report states. She was booked for felony use of identification of another person to avoid prosecution. Bail: $10,000.

— A 55-year-old man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of indecent exposure, a gross misdemeanor offense and being an ex-felon failing to register. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 1400 block of North Carson Street for a report of indecent exposure. Dispatch advised the reporting party saw a man without clothes touching himself in a laundry room.

Deputies located the male with his pants down around his ankles masturbating. Deputies instructed him to pull his pants up and exit the laundry room. He was placed under arrest for indecent exposure. Dispatch sent the arresting deputy the man's criminal history that reveled 24 pages. He was previously convicted of 15 felony offenses in California. Bail: $5,242.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 11:57 p.m. in the 300 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor violation of pre-trial conditions.

According to the arrest report, the man was on probation through the Department of Alternative Sentencing. He was inside a bar and drinking. Due to his conditions, he voluntarily submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .09. He was arrested for violation of conditions. Bail: $3,000.

— A 40-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 5:16 p.m. in the 300 block of East William Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued May 2, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $855.

— A 34-year-old woman was arrested early Monday morning in the 2700 block of Highway 50 East for suspicion of pre-trial conditions, a misdemeanor. According to the arrest report, the woman was found to be in possession of a glass pipe, commonly used for smoking methamphetamine.

The Department of Alternative Sentencing was notified and advised to have her arrested for violation of pre-trial conditions. Bail: $3,000.
