Deputies, Sheriff Furlong arrest two for burglary while in possession of firearms following foot chase

A 29-year-old Carson City man and a 25-year-old Carson City man were arrested for multiple felonies including burglary, possession of a stolen fire arm, possession of burglary tools, and more.

Timothy Jospeh Cave and Jacob Keith Cobb were arrested by deputies early Saturday morning following a report of a vehicle burglary. While enroute the address, dispatch advised the reporting party saw someone breaking into their neighbor’s silver truck. Dispatch advised the suspect was wearing a brown hoodie and jeans.

Deputies made contact with the neighbor who stated they were sleeping in their room when their dog started to bark. They looked out the window and saw someone with their hands on the driver’s window of the truck, peering through the glass.

They banged on their window and the suspect took off running.

As deputies were speaking with the owner of the truck, Sheriff Furlong announced via radio he had two suspects running from him at Terrace St and Crain St.

When deputies arrived, Sheriff Furlong and a deputy had a suspect, identified as Cave, in the snow and in handcuffs.

The Sheriff advised he was driving South on Crain when he saw a pickup with the rear cargo light illuminated. When he approached the vehicle, he saw two male subjects, identified later as Cobb and Cave, inside.

The two then exited the vehicle and began running south on Crain St.

On Cave’s person, deputies located a camouflage ski mask, camouflage beanie, a black pair of leather gloves on with a black pair of latex gloves underneath, and a back pack containing an unknown amount of property.

Lying in the snow where Cave had been lying on a stomach, deputies also located a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, which returned as being stolen.

Deputies also located a methamphetamine pipe on Cave’s person with burnt residue inside.

Inside the backpack, deputies located Windex, Black Alpine Star gloves, paper towels, a Leatherman multitool, two flashlights, JB weld epoxy, Multi-tool with metal pry head, 4 ratcheting end wrenches, and a collapsible baton.

Dispatch advised Cave is on supervision with Parole and Probation, who advised they wanted a no bail hold on Cave. Cave has also been convicted of three felonies, in 2012 and 2016.

Other deputies went after the second subject on Terrace Street. Deputies located the suspect, later identified as Cobb, quickly and found him running West on Terrace.

Deputies told Cobb over the PA to stop running from them, but he did not comply. Deputies then exited the vehicle and caught up to Cobb on foot, tackling him to the ground.

Deputies asked Cobb if he needed medical attention, and he said he did not.

On Cobb’s person, deputies located cloth gloves with black latex rubber gloves beneath. He was wearing a black ski mask which was put in evidence along with a beanie, the gloves and a flashlight.

Cobb agreed to speak to deputies, and asked questions about his charges.

Cobb said that Cave had asked him if he wanted to “make a couple of dubs.” He said that “a dub” meant one hundred dollars.

Cobb said that a black pickup was supposed to have a “couple dubs” inside the truck. He said that truck he was inside of when Sheriff Furlong located them was supposed to have the money inside of it. Cobb said he was in the driver’s seat of the truck. He said Cave told him Kenny Furlong was behind them, and he should run on his mark.

During an intake search of Cobb’s person, deputies located a loaded magazine which belonged to a Taurus 9mm handgun. He said the gun may have fallen out while he was running from deputies.

Deputies located the gun in front of a Terrace Street residence.

Cobb was previously convicted of two felonies, including burglary.
