Carson City sheriff’s log: Man jailed on felony child abuse charge

Micah Daniel Smith was taken into custody at 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Carson Meadow Drive. He was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and violating terms of probation for having consumed alcohol. His bail was set at $43,000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the home for a domestic dispute in progress. The victim advised Smith was yelling at her and she would be in trouble if she was caught on the phone.

Officers arrived and met with the victim who told officers the two were in a heated argument over money and that he slapped her with an open hand on both sides of her face. She had red marks on her right and left cheek, the arrest report states.
