Carson City man jailed for trespassing after showering, falling asleep in apartment that wasn't his
A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia, a sheriff's office booking report states.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a North Carson Street apartment for a report of a male, unknown to the reporting party, who was sleeping on his bed.
Deputies arrived and were let into the room by the reporting party. The male suspect was face down in between two blue duffel bags and was snoring. The officer recognized the male and observed a used clear glass meth pipe that had burnt residue next to him on top of one of the duffel bags, the report states.
The officer woke up the man and detained him. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He told the officer a woman brought him to the room so he could sleep as he was recently evicted from his previous residence. He told the officer the two duffel bags were his.
The deputy asked the man about the methamphetamine pipe. The man replied that he held the pipe and lit it "to get rid of it," the arrest report states. He then told the officer the pipe was not his and belonged to a female in which he did not know her last name, the report states.
The officer interviewed the reporting party again who explained that he heard a knock on his door at 6:30 p.m. and opened the door. The man walked in, put his bags on the bed and took a shower. The reporting party stated he asked the man to leave the residence but he did not. He said the suspect produced a meth pipe from one of his blue bags and began to light the bottom of it. The reporting party stated he wanted to press charges for trespassing.
The suspect was taken into custody for suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. Bail: $1,379.
