Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on felony charge after allegedly breaking woman's rib
A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of felony domestic battery after an incident Monday that sent a woman to the hospital with a broken rib, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Edwin Stanley Scrivner was being held in Carson City Jail on $15,000 bail after he was arrested at 2:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Carson Street. According to the arrest report, officers were called Monday afternoon to an Adams Street home after a woman reported Scrivner had “crushed” her chest during a domestic dispute.
She was taken to the hospital, where a doctor advised she suffered from a fresh broke rib, the arrest report states.
Officers met with Scrivner Tuesday. He said he never struck or hurt the woman, advising he simply “shrugged” her off of his back and then left. He told officers the woman regularly drinks and falls and it is how she must have hurt herself. Bail: $15,000.
— A 39-year-old Carson City man, Nathan Richard Kuzman, was arrested Tuesday, 10:45 p.m. in the area of Carson and John streets on a felony probation violation. According to the arrest report, an officer patrolling the area observed a tan truck traveling northbound on North Carson Street without a right working headlight.
The deputy activated his lights and stopped the vehicle at John and Carson streets and made contact with Kuzman, who said he did not have a driver’s license but did have an ID card.
Dispatch advised the man was under supervision of Nevada Department of Parole and Probation. He had conditions including not to enter a casino except for employment and to not possess or consume alcoholic beverages. The man admitted he has just left a casino, saying he was there with the passenger, visiting the passenger’s mother. The passenger also had an open bottle of beer on the vehicle floor. Parole and Probation advised they wanted the man arrested for alleged violations. No bail hold.
— A 32-year-old Mendota, Calif., man, Donald Ray Lawless, was booked Tuesday into Carson City jail on a felony warrant for alleged embezzlement, issued March 3, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail; $7,500.
— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 10:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear, issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $215.
— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 8:38 a.m. in the 1900 block of East William on charges of speeding, not having a valid license, not wearing a safety belt and windshield obstruction. Bail: $468.
— A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 10:28 a.m. in the area of North Roop and Northridge on a misdemeanor warrant, failure to appear in traffic court, issued May 2, 2014 out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $463.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
