Carson City sheriff’s log: Sisters jailed after fight involving guitar and knife
Two sisters were arrested Monday at a Woodside Drive home on domestic battery charges, with one woman facing a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after a guitar was allegedly thrown, hitting her sister in the face and then threatening her with a knife, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Meagan Adela Martinez, 35, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. on felony and misdemeanor charges. Her 27-year-old sister, a daycare provider as noted under occupation in the arrest report, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the apartment address regarding a domestic battery involving the two sisters.
Witness said both sisters were in the physical altercation, and that Martinez used a plastic guitar to hit her sister in the face. Deputies noted they did not see any marks of physical evidence suggesting she was hit in the face with the guitar.
Witnesses stated the women continued to push and punch each other with Martinez grabbing a knife and turning it toward her sister. Witnesses told officers Martinez did not swing the knife, according to the arrest report. Officers took the sisters into custody. Bail for Martinez, $20,000. Bail for the 27-year-old sister, $3,137.
