Nugget Project: Report delayed while city works to resolve parking, hotel, business incubator issues
At the end of today's Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, city manager Larry Werner said that he has city staff working out answers to questions raised about the Nugget Project before forwarding it to the board.
Werner noted that questions about the location of the parking garage and hotel/conference center portions of the project were raised at the last citizens advisory committee meeting, and he wanted resolve those questions before sending it to the board.
P3 Development's Mike Courtney said at that meeting that they are considering locating the hotel on the west side of Carson Street across from the Nugget casino, which is different than the plans they had drawn up for the committee.
Werner said he also wants to make sure he and his staff can present a report that includes operating plans and budgets for the public portions of the the project.
Another issue to be resolved is the business incubator. It was announced at the last citizens committee meeting that Reno business incubator C4Cube is no longer involved with the project. Werner said they have to determine who will be running this part of the project, along with other details.
The report will not be done in time for the next board meeting, according to Werner, which would push the issue until January when the newly elected board will be seated.
