Carson City crime log: Deputies make arrests for drug possession, DUI and warrants
A man was arrested Thursday night at an east Carson City grocery store parking lot for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and 7 misdemeanors, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Harold Randy Walker, 54, of Markleeville was taken into custody at 10:39 p.m. following a traffic stop in which Walker failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Siskiyou Drive. During the course of the investigation, drugs were found on Walker's person.
Walker also faces three misdemeanor warrants charges out of East Fork Township Court, plus suspicion of failure to obey a traffic control device, driving without a valid license, driving an unregistered vehicle and no proof of insurance.
According to the arrest report, the traffic stop was made in the parking lot of a grocery store. Dispatch advised of the three extraditable warrants for Walker’s arrest. Dispatch also advised that a passenger in the vehicle is on county probation out of Markleeville, Calif.
During the investigation a canine did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. During the search officers discovered a marijuana pipe and marijuana in the glovebox within the reach of the 25-year-old on probation. Also found were four open beer cans under the passenger side seat where the 25-year-old was sitting.
At jail during the intake, a deputy found, in the man's sock, a small ziplock bag containing two smaller plastic bags that had 3.8 grams of methamphetamine inside. Walker advised it was his methamphetamine. Bail: $5,619.
In other arrests:
— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 1:15 p.m. in the area of Carson and Washington streets for two misdemeanor warrants: contempt of court and failure to appear. Bail: $2,758.
— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday, 4:46 p.m. in the 1700 block of Carson River Road for misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence and failure to maintain a lane of traffic.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City Park Ranger observed the woman behind him drive off the road and crash into a parked van.
The woman said she was not hurt and admitted to drinking alcohol. She refused field sobriety tests and refused to give a preliminary breath test and was arrested. At jail she agreed to evidentiary blood samples. Bail: $1,224.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 7:15 p.m. in the 2100 block of Sneddon Drive for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued April 26, 2017. Bail: $500.
— A 19-year-old transient was arrested Thursday, 5:29 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor possession of marijuana under the age of 21, two counts possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor warrant for battery. Bail: $2,874.
