Carson City sheriff’s log: Deputies make DUI arrests
A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 2:54 a.m. in the area of Roop and Oregon streets on suspicion of DUI, expired registration and possession of marijuana, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, an officer stopped the vehicle for expired plates and spoke with the driver and the owner of the car who was a passenger. The female owner said she was aware of the expired registration but was too busy to make it to the DMV.
The deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver, who had red watery eyes. He admitted to drinking two beers in the evening and provided the officer with a driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
He was asked to submit to field sobriety test in which he failed all the tests. He told the officer he had a small bag of marijuana in his left sock. He removed his shoe and pointed the marijuana to the officer. He was taken to jail and submitted to two breath tests. $1,946.
— A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:47 a.m. in the area of East Nye and College Parkway on misdemeanor charges of DUI drugs, disobeying a traffic control device and having an obstructed windshield.
According to the arrest report, an officer observed a white Nissan sport utility vehicle, with a broken windshield, disobey a stop sign at north Edmonds and Highway 50.
A traffic stop was made. Officers spoke with the man, who had watery eyes, and learned he had not been drinking but said he had smoked marijuana two days prior. The officer asked if he would perform field sobriety tests. The man agreed and did not complete the tests satisfactorily. Bail: $1,296.
— A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 11 a.m. in the 2400 block of Brentwood Drive on a misdemeanor charge, violation of probation. Officers received an anonymous phone call regarding the man, saying he had been drinking and was on Alternative Sentence with a no alcohol clause. Officers located the man. A preliminary breath test was done with a .330. He was taken to the hospital for medical clearance and then to jail. Bail: $3,000.
— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 9:49 a.m in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road on a misdemeanor warrant, petit larceny, issued Nov. 25, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $650. Deputies also arrested a 28-year-old woman at the same address on a petit larceny warrant, issued by Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $650.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
