Carson City sheriff's deputies make arrests for DUI, drugs and theft of tequila and mini-bottles

A 63-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI second offense, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
The CCSO arrest report states that an officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 50 East near North Lompa Lane at approximately 12:02 a.m. A deputy spoke with driver and sole occupant and noticed the man had red watery eyes and slurred speech and stumbled, nearly falling into his open door. He also had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.
He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on all the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .212 and was arrested. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests of .177 and .175 at approximately 1:05 a.m. He had previously been convicted in March 2017 of DUI. Bail: $2,637.
In other arrests:
— A 54-year-old Reno man was arrested Saturday, 8:20 p.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI second offense. According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report, a a traffic stop on a vehicle was conducted after a CCSO sergeant observed the driver failing to maintain its travel lane and nearly side-swiping another motor vehicle.
The driver told the officer that he had not been drinking any alcoholic beverages. The sergeant could smell an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The man stepped out of the vehicle and stumbled backwards. He was checked for weapons, where the officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on all tests.
He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .223 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He was convicted of DUI in August 2018. He provided evidentiary breath tests with results of .166 and .162 at approximately 2:11 a.m. Bail: $2,637.
— A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday, 11:10 p.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor petit larceny, probation violation and violation of pre-trial supervision. The man allegedly stole two bottles of tequila, valued at $25.99 (Cazadores) and $53.99 (Patron), an unopened package of 99 (brand) liquor bottles valued at 12.99, two open and empty Fistful of Bourbon mini bottles, plus a ripped plastic bag with methamphetamine residue, a plastic bag with two broken glass pipes, folded card stock containing 3.3 grams of marijuana and a folded dollar bill containing 1.6 grams of marijuana.
The Department of Alternative Sentencing advised that with the alcohol and contraband, they wanted the man arrested. Bail: $6,352.
— A 33-year-old man was arrested Nov. 20 in the area of East John and North Fall Street for suspicion of DUI and four contempt of court warrants.
According to the booking report, an officer made a traffic stop on a red sedan after observing there wasn't a rear license plate and that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
A deputy made contact with the driver who identified himself. While speaking with the man, the officer observed he had red watery eyes and slurred speech and had a light odor of alcohol coming from his person. The deputy asked the man if he had been drinking. The man replied he had three beers earlier in the night.
The deputy did a check on the man and learned of the contempt of court warrants, three out of East Fork Township and one out of Carson City Justice Court, the report states.
With the confirmed warrants the man was arrested. He was transported to jail where the deputy conducted field sobriety tests. The man showed impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .128. The man stated he would submit to an evidentiary blood draw. Bail: $3,748.
— A 42-year-old man, Albert Phillip Rodriguez, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony failure to register as a sex offender and the following misdemeanor offenses: drunken pedestrian, impeding traffic, disobedience of a traffic control device and Department of Alternative Sentencing violation. Bail: $8,000.
— A Carson City man, Warren Darnell Chaney, was arrested for allegedly not being in compliance as a registered sex offender by approximately 7 months. Bail: $5,000.
— A 20-year-old Reno man, Kanaan Ray Bowman, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon without a permit, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and petit larceny.
According to the booking report, officers responded to an auto store for a report of a larceny in which a man entered the store and stole spray paint. The store provided a description of the suspect, who as seen in a vehicle with a temporary license plate.
A deputy advised he located the vehicle with a matching temporary plate at a North Carson Street gas station. Deputies detained the driver, who matched the descriptions of the man who allegedly stole the spray paint.
A deputy looked inside the vehicle and observed in plain view brass knuckles and two cans of spray paint on the passenger seat. The man was arrested. The deputy advised the brass knuckles are considered a dangerous weapon. The man uttered to the officer that he just purchased those, the arrest report states.
The man was read his Miranda rights and he stated he understood his rights and wanted counsel. No further questions were asked. An inventory of the vehicle prior to towing was down where officers located two glass pipes and a bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
Officers returned to the auto store, where it was confirmed the two cans of spray paint and a round eight ball shifter knob, (also located on the seat of the vehicle) were stolen. Bail: $6,626.
— A 41-year-old man, Adrian Jones, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and violation of pre-trial conditions. Bail: $3,000.
