Carson City emergency crews respond to crash at South Carson Street and Old Clear Creek

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded early Wednesday evening to a vehicle crash in the northbound lane of South Carson Street at Old Clear Creek Road.

The crash, reported shortly before 5:30 p.m., involves three vehicles and is blocking traffic. Paramedics evaluated three people on scene, all declining medical attention via ambulance.

The northbound lane of South Carson Street is blocked. Motorists can expect delays.

I look forward to spring. The first nubs of bulbs poking up last week elated me since it is the middle of winter. And then, oh no! The Western Nevada College Paramedicine program celebrated the graduation of 11 paramedics at a ceremony in Carson City on Saturday.

The graduates are now eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician National Certification Test, according to WNC’s Emergency Medical Services and Paramedic Program Coordinator Terry Mendez.

A hot air balloon was briefly stranded on Sunday morning near C-Hill in Carson City. Sheriff's deputies were notified. No one was injured, according to Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch.

According to Jennifer Myers, who took the photos, the balloon was able to take off after having landed briefly near homes, with the balloon company headed toward a church parking lot with their trailer to rescue it.

The American College Test, a Carson High School graduation requirement, takes place Feb. 23 at Carson High, and it will be administered, free of charge, to all CHS Juniors. According to J.K. On Saturday, the NHL hosted an outdoor game in Lake Tahoe at Edgewood between Nevada's own Vegas Golden Knights against the Colorado Avalanche.

Carson City officials, Nevada Day event coordinators, and Carson City's local Assemblyman have all agreed on one thing: that they are not in favor of a newly proposed bill which aims to change the observance of Nevada Day, Carson City's favorite holiday.

The Nevada Departments of Motor Vehicles and Transportation are warning drivers of a texting scheme circulating in Nevada.

These illegitimate messages ask recipients to update their driver's license contact information with the Nevada Department of Transportation. Similar fraudulent texts have been reported in other states.

Lawmakers are looking to bring Nevada in line with a federal law passed in 2019 that raises the legal tobacco sales age from 18 to 21.

For the week ending February 13, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,378, down 2,575 claims, or 25.9 percent, compared to the previous week’s total of 9,953 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Douglas County 9-1-1 Emergency Services has achieved re-accreditation of the Emergency Medical Dispatch program from the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).

The three-year accredited period is from April 2021 to April 2024. This is the third consecutive year 9-1-1 Emergency Services has met international standards for accreditation.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021 there are 17 new cases and 8 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 11,071, with 8,663 recoveries and 203 deaths; 2,205 cases remain active.
