Interstate 580 at Lakeview reopened following Saturday morning utility work
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, Carson City Dispatch and the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command, Interstate 580 at Lakeview Hill has now reopened to traffic through Washoe Valley from Carson City after a morning closure to make utility repairs of power lines near the highway Saturday morning.
Motorists are reminded that the stretch of I-580 between the Bowers Mansion exit at the north end of Washoe Valley and the U.S. Highway 50 East/William Street exit in Carson City will close again Sunday morning between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the last portion of utility work on power lines damaged when a Washoe County Raven helicopter struck them on Nevada Day, Oct. 27, igniting a small brush fire at Duck Hill.
The lines being repaired provide electricity to more than 11,000 residents at Lake Tahoe.
