Carson High Blue Thunder Marching Band Wins Sierra Band Crusade
The Carson High School Blue Thunder Marching Band won first place in the AA division with an overall score of more than 80 at the 44th Annual Sierra Band Crusade, northern Nevada’s Marching Band Championships, this past Saturday, Nov. 9, in Mackay Stadium at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The band has only ever won their division at Sierra Band Crusade a total of six times including 1982, 2003, 2005, 2021, 2022 and 2024. Additionally, this year's first place was with a score of 81.625, the highest score since 2005.
CHS Blue Thunder Marching Band also won all the caption awards in their division: Outstanding Music, Outstanding Visual and Outstanding Color Guard.

The band will extend the marching season and continue to showcase their talents before thousands of spectators and millions of television views at the historic Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, the second-largest Thanksgiving parade in the country, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024.
Celebrating its 90th anniversary and a Chicago tradition since 1934, the parade attracts bands, floats, dance troupes and entertainers from across the country. This year, the parade will be aired live on Pluto TV, Paramount’s free streaming service, for families who wish to spectate from home.
