Carson City arrests: Man jailed after allegedly brandishing gun in waistband

A man was arrested early Saturday in the 100 block of East Telegraph following an incident where a weapon was allegedly brandished, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Two others were also arrested for suspicion of obstructing.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a bar regarding a fight. Deputies arrived and saw multiple subjects outside the front of the bar, including the suspect, of Sparks, who allegedly brandished a gun.

The bouncer at the bar said the suspect got into a verbal altercation with another patron and pulled up his shirt to show he had a gun in a waistband, the arrest report states.

The bouncer escorted the man to his car, where the man began to threaten the bouncer and again lift his shirt, showing a pistol and telling the bouncer he had a gun in case it wasn’t a fair fight, according to the arrest report.

The suspect waived his Miranda and said he felt threatened by both the patron and bouncer and that’s why he showed them his gun, the arrest report states. He consented to his vehicle being searched. The .40 caliber loaded gun was located and collected as evidence.

The bouncer filed a citizens arrest report for branding. The suspect also had a confirmed warrant out of Reno Township for contempt of court. He was arrested for brandishing and the warrant, both misdemeanor offenses. Bail: $1,237.
