Carson City arrests: Pair arrested for alleged drug possession during traffic stop
A 41-year-old Carson City man and a 33-year-old Sacramento man were arrested in the area of Saliman and Robinson streets Friday night for suspicion of drug related offenses.
According to the report, Christopher Eugene Tacadena and Kenneth Wayne Graves Jr. were arrested after deputies witnessed a vehicle traveling north on Saliman passing through the intersection of 5th Street, which had a non functioning right rear running light. After a check on the license plate, deputies were alerted that the plate registration had expired in February of 2019.
Deputies stopped the vehicle and made contact with two male occupants, the driver being Tacadena and the passenger, Graves.
Graves told deputies there was a problem with the DMV and he was “in the process” of getting the registration up to date. He said he did not know that the rear running light was not working.
Deputies asked the driver, Tacadena, for his driver’s license, registration, and insurance. Tacadena said he did not have his wallet or license with him.
K-9 Deputy Blue was dispatched to the scene and conducted an exterior free-air sniff of the vehicle, returning with a positive alert.
Inside the vehicle, deputies located a small clear bag with a white crystalline substance under the front passenger seat where Graves was located, which tested positively for methamphetamine, the arrest report states.
Deputies also located several clear glass jars with marijuana inside throughout the vehicle, along with a digital scale in the rear of the vehicle.
Tacadena agreed to speak with deputies and told them all of the marijuana and the digital scale belonged to him, but denied any knowledge of the methamphetamine, the report states.
Graves also agreed to speak with deputies and said no one else drives the vehicle except for him. He said he had no knowledge of the methamphetamine.
Graves was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. Bail: $2,500
Tacadena was booked on suspicion of possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, driving without required rear lamps, driving with expired registration, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,781.
— A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday morning for domestic battery first offense after allegedly attacking his girlfriend.
According to the report, deputies responded to a residence in reference to a domestic battery report. Deputies made contact with the girlfriend who “appeared to be very emotional and scared.” She told deputies that her boyfriend hit her and was trying to kill her.
She said the incident occurred at her residence, and that she had left in order to get away from the man. Deputies noted she had a bruise on the left side of her chest and a laceration and swelling on the left side of her top lip. She told deputies the man is a veteran and that he suffers from PTSD.
The fire department responded to the location to assess the woman because she complained of chest pain and had a hard time breathing.
Deputies went to the residence and spoke with the man who said he hadn’t hit his girlfriend and that he loves her and would never hurt her. He could not, however, speak to how she came to be injured. Deputies noted the man was highly aggressive toward deputies on scene.
Deputies arrested the man and transported him to the jail. He provided a preliminary breath test sample which came back with a .229 percent BAC. Bail: $3,137
— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Fairview and S. Saliman for department of alternative sentencing violation after being out past curfew and driving without a valid driver’s license.
The vehicle was stopped after deputies observed it driving on the freeway going 55 mph in a 65 mph with no license plates. Deputies made contact with the driver and learned he was on DAS supervision.
Dispatch advised the man had a curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and was currently in violation of that curfew. He was taken into custody. Bail: $3,192.
