A 64-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly hitting a vehicle she had been pursuing, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Joyce Bernice Lenson was placed into custody at 10:05 a.m. after meeting with law enforcement officers at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office administration building.
According to the arrest report, the incident involved two victims who said they were were in a verbal argument Tuesday night with the suspect. The victims told a sheriff’s deputy the suspect was yelling and cursing at them regarding an ex-boyfriend.
The two victims then went to a casino Tuesday night and left at around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday morning. They observed the suspect sitting in her vehicle in the casino parking lot, the arrest report states.
The victim said the suspect then began to yell at them. They got into their vehicle and proceeded on Highway 50 East. The victims said the suspect followed their vehicle and attempted to run into the back of their vehicle numerous times, the arrest report states.
The victim told the investigating deputy that she continued to drive and went along residential streets in the areas of Sherman, Airport and East Nye trying to avoid the suspect’s vehicle striking their vehicle.
When the victim driver attempted to do a u-turn to get away from the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect drove her vehicle directly into the left side of the victim vehicle. Both victims told the investigating deputy that the suspect drove away from the location without making verbal contact with them.
The investigating deputy observed the damage to the victim’s vehicle. At 9:25 a.m. Wednesday the deputy met with the suspect at the sheriff’s office. The deputy observed the damage to the suspect vehicle and paint transfer in the damaged area, the arrest report states.
The deputy questioned the woman about the incident. She told the deputy she felt threatened by the victims and said they were the ones attempting to follow her from her residence.
Lenson admitted that she had struck the victim’s vehicle but said the victim had been chasing her and pulled in front of her vehicle. Lenson was booked for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail: $20,137.
