Ex-felon jailed on warrant charge after admitting to taking meth, calling 911
A Carson City man was arrested Nov. 5, 7 p.m. near Sherman Lane and Dori Way. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of being an ex-felon carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor charges of failure to register as an ex-felon and not having a bicycle headlight.
According to the arrest report, a deputy patrolling the area stopped the man for not having a headlight on his bicycle. The arresting officer asked the man if he had any identification and the man responded he did not and provided a name and birth date.
The deputy conducted a pat down of the man and found a pocket knife on his belt and a plastic bb gun pistol in his right front pocket. The officer asked dispatch to conduct a records check, which came back that he was an ex-felon with an address on Woodcrest.
The officer then asked the man where he was living and the man said he moved about two weeks ago to the 300 block of South Meadows Drive. He was asked if he had registered his new address and the man replied he had not.
The man was detained. The man told officers that the address of where he was staying was in his right back pant pocket in his wallet. During a search of the pocket to retrieve the wallet the officer found a double-edged fixed handle dagger type knife. The man was taken to jail without incident. Bail: $2,804.
— A 34-year-old transient who called 911 breathing heavy and saying he needed help was jailed Tuesday on misdemeanor charges, including a domestic battery warrant, after admitting to smoking methamphetamine and believing he was being chased.
Deputies responded to the area of Brown Street at 8:26 p.m. after the 911 was placed and a second 911 call came through from a person who said they saw a man jump through a fence and ran through their backyard.
Upon arrival a deputy observed the man running across the street, and then ducking down near a car. The man was sweating profusely and shook uncontrollably, according to the arrest report. The man was asked if he called 911 and he said he had not. The deputy asked the man if he could use his cell phone, in which he called 911 where dispatch advised it was the same number that came in earlier. The man then admitted to calling 911, the arrest report states.
The man told the officer that someone was chasing him but declined to add any further details. During the questioning, dispatch informed officers that there was a confirmed warrant for his arrest dated Oct. 11, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court, for domestic battery.
The man was taken into custody and then admitted that he had used meth prior to the incident and may have been hallucinating.
