Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Underage pair jailed for marijuana, alcohol
Two 18 year-olds from Carson City were arrested Saturday morning at 3:27 a.m. in the area of Panamint and Knoblock roads on misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession and alcohol consumption by minors, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, a sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop grey Volkswagen sedan observed to be swerving between travel lanes and hitting the curb on a right turn.
Contact was then made with the driver, an 18 year-old woman, and two passengers; all of whom identified themselves and advised they were under the age of 21.
During the contact, a strong odor of marijuana was smelled coming from inside of the vehicle, the report said.
The driver consented to a vehicle search and all three occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. As the right rear passenger exited, the deputy observed a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana by his feet, the report said.
The 18 year-old male suspect was then detained in handcuffs and a K-9 unit conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle.
A positive alert was observed and a subsequent interior vehicle search recovered a clear plastic bag in the driver's seat and a marijuana pipe on the driver's side door panel, the report said.
At that time, the 18 year-old female driver was also handcuffed. Both she and the 18 year-old male passenger were taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail.
Once there, an alcoholic odor was detected from each of their breath, the report said. A preliminary breath tests (PBTs) performed on each suspect showed breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .207 percent for the male and 0.036 percent for the female.
Additional charges of minor consumption of alcohol were added to each of their bookings. Bail: $2,203 for the woman and $2,116 for the man.
