John Tyson to bring cowboy music, poetry tonight to Gold Hill Hotel lecture series

VIRGINIA CITY — Local celebrity and cowboy music performer John Tyson will bring his “American Cowboy” show back to the Gold Hill Hotel on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Tyson, a Vietnam veteran, has worked as a law enforcement officer, range manager, working cowboy, train engineer, entertainer and journalist. He is best known regionally as a former reporter for KOLO-TV Channel 8. But he is also well known for his cowboy songs and poetry, and stories about cowboys of the Old West.
He contributed to the Wild Horse Crossing CD produced by Lacy J. Dalton in the 1990s, and has performed at many cowboy poetry and music festivals around the region.
John will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Gold Hill Hotel’s Great Room on Thursday, Nov. 12.
The Gold Hill Hotel, the oldest hotel in Nevada, and its renowned Crown Point Restaurant, are located at 1540 Main Street, Gold Hill, just one mile south of Virginia City on SR 342. The road is open to local traffic.
Dinner is from 4-8 p.m. at the Crown Point Restaurant at the Gold Hill Hotel with several menu options offered.
The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Room. Tickets are $25 for the dinner and lecture and $10 for the lecture only.
