Carson City emergency crews respond, Care Flight ordered for pedestrian crash at Plaza and Fifth Street
UPDATE: An 80-year-old man crossing a crosswalk adjacent to the Nevada Legislative Building at Fifth and Plaza Street in Carson City was struck by a vehicle tonight and flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center.
The victim in the accident, reported to dispatch at 5:41 p.m., was wearing dark clothes and crossing in a poorly lit area, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
There are no indications at this time that the driver who struck the man was impaired. The Nevada Highway Patrol Crash Investigations team has been called to the scene.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies are responding tonight to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Plaza and Fifth streets. The crash happened just after 5:40 p.m.
The pedestrian appears to have serious injuries. A Care Flight helicopter has been ordered.
The patient is being taken by ground ambulance to a landing zone. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Traffic is being re-directed around the accident scene. Avoid the area due to emergency vehicles on scene.
