Three jailed in Walmart theft where knife was brandished
Three suspects are in custody after allegedly stealing merchandise Thursday from a Gardnerville Walmart, with one of the suspects allegedly brandishing a knife after being confronted by store security, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, Oct. 29 at 1:15 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Wal-Mart at 1511 Grant Way in Gardnerville for a reported theft in progress. Three suspects left the store with an unknown amount of merchandise. When confronted by store security, one of the suspects allegedly brandished a knife, and then left the area, said Sgt. Pat Brooks.
A description of the suspected vehicle was broadcasted and was located a short time later and stopped on Highway 395 near Stephanie Lane. During the investigation, Douglas County deputies located evidence of the theft from Walmart and drug paraphernalia, said Brooks.
All three suspects — Robert Michael Dean, 23, Dylan Andrew Mitts, 24 and Elizabeth Kathrine Spandau, 22, were arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail on various charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, said Brooks.
