Douglas Sheriff's Office arrests suspect at Tahoe wanted for school threats in Sonoma County

A suspect who allegedly made violent threats against an elementary school in Sonoma County, Calif. was arrested at Lake Tahoe on Monday evening. Earlier in the day, detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, Kevin Harrington, 47, of Santa Rosa, was likely in the South Lake Tahoe area.

Carson City area weather: Shower potential by midweek, freeze watch issued

It will begin to feel more like fall later this week around Carson City and surrounding counties with a storm system arriving Wednesday that is expected to bring cooler temperatures and shower chances.

NV Energy to use helicopters for 'essential fire mitigation work' around Lake Tahoe

Beginning Monday, NV Energy will use helicopters to replace power poles and to clear large logs and brush that pose fire hazards to the utility's infrastructure around the Lake Tahoe Basin. The helicopters are needed to navigate steep, mountainous terrain in the area.
