Carson City weekend arrests: Two booked separately for suspected third offense DUI

Two were arrested over the weekend for alleged DUI third offense in separate arrest incidents, according to Carson City Sheriff's Office booking reports.

In the first arrest, 38-year-old Michael Ross Tabler was booked Sunday for suspicion of felony third DUI and other alleged offenses. He was taken into custody at 12:07 p.m. following an investigation. He was also booked for gross misdemeanor destruction of property, hit and run and driving on a revoked license for DUI.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched for a report of a hit and run. Dispatch advised the suspect vehicle was a white pickup that returned with Tabler as the registered owner. Dispatch further advised the truck had crashed into a fence and then left the scene toward US-50 and the driver was intoxicated.

A deputy saw the suspect vehicle, which was occupied by Tabler and a female passenger. As soon as the driver saw the patrol vehicle, he began to drive the truck toward Merrimac Way. The deputy got out of their patrol vehicle and approached the truck when it was stopped as it was turning south on Merrimac. Tabler rolled down the window, where the deputy could immediately smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the truck, the report states.

The deputy observed the man's eyes were glossy and watery and that his speech was thick, slow and slurred. The deputy asked the man what he was doing and he stated he was picking up the female passenger. The officer asked which fence he had hit and the man advised he didn't hit any fences. The deputy asked the man to step out of the vehicle. The man did not have any shoes and was unsteady on his feet, the report states.

A deputy made contact with the reporting party who identified themselves and stated their outside camera notified them of activities and their dogs started barking. They then watched a white pickup hit their exterior fence and drive off, the report states.

The RP advised they ran outside to stop the man but thy were only able to get a photo of the license plate. They advised that when they ran out to stop the truck, there was a brief exchange of words and the RP could smell an odor of alcohol coming form inside the truck, the report states.

The RP advised they had video of the incident that they would provide. They also advised the fence would cost approximately $1,000 to get fixed and said they wanted to pursue criminal charges for damage to the fence, according to the report.

The deputy responded back to Tabler. Dispatch advised he had a revoked license until June 7, 2025. The deputy asked the man if he had been drinking, which he stated he had not. The deputy asked if he would submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The man advised no. The officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his person. Due to the man have physical control of the vehicle and showing signs of impairment, he was placed under arrest, the report states.

He was read the request for voluntary evidence. The man stated he was going to refuse both breath and blood tests. The officer contacted the on-call district attorney and judge. The judge granted a search warrant for a blood draw. A criminal history check was run on the man, who had two prior DUI convictions in the last seven years. Bail: $20,000.

— In the second suspected DUI arrest, a 30-year-old Mound House man was taken into custody Sunday for suspicion of felony DUI third offense, according to A Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report. Eddy Garcia-Perez was taken into custody at 12:53 a.m. following an investigation. He was also booked for misdemeanor driving on a revoked license.

According to the booking report, a CCSO deputy was called to a fast food restaurant in the 3100 block of Highway 50 East for a report of a man sleeping at the wheel of a pickup while in the drive thru. The reporting party advised dispatch that there were approximately eight cars behind the driver due to him sleeping.

A deputy arrived at 12:24 a.m. and observed the vehicle sitting at the driver-through order speaker with multiple cars lined up behind it. The deputy observed the vehicle to be on and running with the man sitting in the driver's seat, slouched over, sleeping with his arms folded. A deputy opened the driver's side door and turned off the truck. The officer announced the presence of CCSO, with the man waking up. A deputy could immediately smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The deputy asked the man to step out and speak.

Garcia-Perez stepped out and appeared to be confused. A deputy informed him he was sleeping in the drive-through with the truck running. He stated he was tired and wanted to go home. While speaking, the deputy confirmed the strong odor of alcohol was emitting from his person. The officer observed the man to have red watery eyes and slurred speech. When answering question he was slow to respond and would answer with a few word. The deputy asked how much he had to drink, with the man stating "a couple beers," the report states.

The deputy asked him for his license, which he stated he did not have one. He provided the deputy with a Nevada ID card instead. He submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .095 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI, the report states. He was read the request for voluntary evidence, which he understood and chose the breath test, the report states.

Officers were advised the man's license was revoked and had not been reinstated or cleared. The vehicle was released to the registered owner. The man provided the following breath test results, .098 at 1:39 a.m., .038 at 1:40 a.m. and .037 at 1:43 a.m., the report states.

The man was booked for alleged third DUI and misdemeanor driving on a revoked license. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
— A 46-year-old Carson City man, Lee Ross, was arrested Saturday, 5:24 p.m. for alleged felony possession of credit cards without the card holder's consent and three alleged misdemeanors: obstructing a public officer, Department of Alternative Sentencing violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of South Curry and Rhodes for a report of subjects throwing rocks at vehicles.

A deputy arriving on scene was alerted by another officer and a sergeant that two subjects matched the description provided by dispatch and and were detained. The sergeant informed the deputy that both the subjects refused his command for them to sit down and informed the deputy both subjects approached him and did not listen to or follow his commands to sit down. The sergeant advised he detained one of the subjects, while the other, Lee Ross, began running southbound on Curry Street, the report states.

Ross was observed dropping a bag behind a parked car and continuing to run. A deputy commanded the man to stop and get on the ground. He refused to get on the ground until the officer drew his taser and pointed it at Lee. The officer was able to place handcuffs on Lee and escorted him to a patrol vehicle, the report states.

A deputy searched the bag that Lee placed under the parked car and confirmed the bag belonged to Lee due to prescription medication in the bag with his name on it as well as a bag of marijuana, a wallet with credit cards and an ID belonging to another person, the report states.

The deputy contacted the reporting party and learned they did not want to press any charges against Lee. Dispatch advised that Lee is on probation and was in violation of his probation conditions due to his being in possession of marijuana. While being escorted to the jail search room, the deputy observed a meth pipe fall out of Lee's right pant pocked, according to the report.

He was booked for alleged possession of credit cards without the consent of the owner, obstruction, DAS violation and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $3,000 cash.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for two misdemeanor Department of Alternative Sentencing violations, including a condition not to drink alcohol. He provided a preliminary breath test with a result of .205. Bail: $6,000 cash.

— A 47-year-old Carson City woman, Sheila Marie Wilson, was arrested Saturday for two felony failure to appear warrants issued Sept. 30, 2024. No bail hold in lieu of hearing.
