Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: California man nearly hits traffic signal, busted for DUI
A 27 year-old Lamonta, Calif., man was arrested early Saturday morning at 12:27 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Carson Street on misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy was called to the area of a South Carson Street motel on report of an intoxicated driver in the parking lot.
The reporting party (RP) told Carson City Dispatch that a grey Dodge sedan was all over the roadway, attempting to turn into the parking lot of the motel.
On arrival, the deputy observed a grey Dodge driving in the motel parking lot before pulling into a parking space, the report said.
A traffic stop was made by the deputy and the suspect attempted to exit the driver's side of the vehicle. He was instructed to get back into the vehicle and he complied.
The deputy subsequently made contact with the driver, who was observed to have watery eyes. There was also an odor of alcohol noted to be coming from the suspect's breath, the report said.
When the deputy explained the reason for the stop, the suspect claimed he wasn't driving the vehicle. Yet, he was observed to be the vehicle's sole occupant.
The suspect admitted to having consumed three beers about three hours earlier. He consented to standard field sobriety tests (FSTs), which showed signs of impairment.
The suspect also consented to a preliminary breath test (PBT), the results of which yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .230 percent. The evidence, including a witness statement from the RP, was enough for law enforcement to place the suspect into custody.
The RP reported that he had witnessed the suspect vehicle run a red traffic light, swerve on the roadway, and almost hit a traffic signal as well as two other vehicles.
The suspect was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking without incident. Bail: $1,137.
