FBI offers $10,000 reward for arrest and conviction of Alexander Morfin
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Alexander Morfin, 26, of Modesto who is considered armed and dangerous. Morfin may be in Nevada, California or Mexico, according to the FBI. He is wanted for his alleged involvement in the 2008 murder of Victor Gaona, 37, of Modesto, Calif.
Morfin is a Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet, ten inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds.
On September 3, 2008, Modesto Police officers responded to a shooting in the area of Dezzani Lane and Ustick Road in South Modesto.
When officers arrived, they found Gaona who sustained several gunshot wounds as he walked down the street. Gaona was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
According to witness statements, after the shooting, the suspects fled the scene in a Honda Accord. Investigators later found the Honda Accord burned in a residential neighborhood in the city of Sacramento.
Investigators from the Central Valley Gang Impact Taskforce have investigated this case and identified several suspects related to the homicide. The task force is an FBI Safe Streets Initiative, which includes local, state, and federal investigators from throughout Stanislaus County. To date, four suspects have been arrested.
A local arrest warrant was issued for Morfin on March 10, 2010, in the Stanislaus County Superior Court, after he was charged with murder, assault with a firearm, and participation in a street gang. A federal arrest warrant was issued for Morfin in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, Fresno, California, on March 11, 2010, after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
