Annual Carson City Ghost Walk haunts historic downtown district Saturday
The streets and sidewalks of Carson City's historic district were haunted Saturday by the spirits of residents past during the 26th annual Carson City Ghost Walk.
Madame Curry, played by Mary Bennett, emceed the event from Bob McFadden Plaza. Tours left about every 30 minutes from the plaza on a two-hour walking excursion taking guests to a number of historical and notoriously haunted stops along the route.
This year, the imagined lore of a fantasy Victorian-era vampire culture was introduced to the stories told along the tour.
Historical characters, spooks, and vampire hunters interacted with tour guests. The Carson City Ghost Walk, an event that spans several hours, part haunted history and part theatrics.
Even the Nevada Gunfighters got into the act at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Telegraph and Division streets, putting on a show that featured a 19th Century vampire-hunting gunfighter who mistakenly shoots an innocent couple dead after misidentifying them as vampires.
