Carson City woman jailed on felony charges related to stolen Honda

A 32-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday in the 2000 block of Manor Way on felony suspicion of receiving and transporting a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and obstructing, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Sarah Ellen Cavello, 32, is being held on $50,686 bail. According to the arrest report, on Oct. 18, 2014, a deputy was in the parking lot of Sheffield Manor Apartments. In the southeast corner of the parking lot by building 2091, in front of an apartment, the deputy saw an unoccupied black 2-door Honda Accord sitting on jack stands that matched the description of a Honda reported stolen Oct. 9. The vehicle appeared as though someone had been removing parts. The vehicle’s VIN was checked through dispatch and it was confirmed it had been stolen.

After canvassing the area, deputies learned the occupants living in a unit were seen removing parts from the vehicle. Deputies also located several vehicle parts belonging to the vehicle in the dumpster assigned to the apartment. Officers attempted to contact the occupants of the apartment and knocked several times without an answer.
Based on the vehicle’s location and witness statements, the deputy contacted an on-call judge and obtained a search warrant for the apartment unit in question.

Once inside the apartment a female identified as Sarah Calvello stepped out. She was detained and cuffed. She was advised of her Miranda rights and agreed to speak regarding the stolen Honda. She admitted to allowing a friend to park the stolen vehicle in her parking area about 10 days ago. She said she helped her friend remove vehicle parts from the stolen vehicle and later installed them into her own vehicle. She also placed some of the Honda parts from the stolen Honda insider her apartment. She stated she knew deputies were outside and knocking on her door and she refused to open it because she said she never answers the door for law enforcement, the arrest report states.

During execution of the search warrant officers located several Honda parts inside the boiler room that appeared to belong to the stolen Honda. Also inside the boiler room officers located a set of tools that appeared to have been used in removing the vehicle parts. The woman was arrested at 12:11 p.m. taken to jail and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property and obstructing.
