For eight decades now, the Nevada Day Parade has been a Silver State tradition celebrating statehood.

On Saturday morning, the 80th Nevada Day Parade began on Carson Street crowded with spectators on either side.

It's parade day in Carson City, which means a host of Nevada Day activities throughout the state capital all day long.

Of course, the 80th annual Nevada Day Parade is the centerpiece of the Silver State's 154th birthday celebration.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is asking travelers in the area of Boyer Lane in Stagecoach to use caution due to an active brush fire that erupted Thursday afternoon.

The Nevada State Museum and Western Nevada College in Carson City are once again teaming up to present a Day of the Dead community celebration on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the museum.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free. Activities include performances by Mexican and Aztec folkloric dancers, an exhibition of altars, and Day of the Dead crafts including sugar skull decorating and face painting for youngsters.
