Nevada Day Powwow opens at Carson City's MAC
For more than three decades, the Nevada Day Powwow has been a concurrent celebration of Nevada statehood as well as the culture and heritage of the Silver State's native people.
The 2018 Nevada Day Powwow, formerly known as the La Ka Lel Be Powwow, opened Friday at the Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC) in Carson City on the observed Nevada Day holiday.
The celebration continues Saturday and Sunday with tribal song and dance, a traditional gambling hand game, horseshoe tournament as well as arts, craft and food vendors. A bowling tournament will also take place at the nearby Gold Dust West Bowling Center.
There are two grand entry times Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m., and noon on Sunday.
