Halloween train ride aboard V&T to raise money for cancer patients and caregivers
All aboard the V&T Railroad for an unforgettable Halloween train ride where the living spirits of Northern Nevada can lift and embolden cancer patients and their care givers.
The Oct. 27 Halloween V&T train is a fundraiser for the nonprofit foundation Empowered Lives through the Cancer Journey, an organization established to support, encourage and empower both the patient and their caregivers throughout their cancer treatment.
Called the Adult Spirit Train Ride, this fundraiser hopes to raise at least $1,000 if it sells out all the V&T train seats, said Susan Sutton, the organization's founder. Money for cancer patients and caregivers is needed as the cost for treatments continues to mount. Help is especially needed for cancer patients during the winter months, Sutton added.
The V&T Railroad Halloween Adult Spirits Train will be 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the F Street Station in Virginia City. Tickets are $55 or $100 for a couple, and include train ride, music and refreshments, beer and wine. Costumes are encouraged.
