Pony Express riders arrive Friday at Nevada State Capitol Building
On Friday, Oct. 17, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki will be on hand to accept a special delivery from Pony Express riders at 3:30 p.m. on the south steps of the Nevada State Capitol Building.
In honor of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial, the White Pine, Eureka, Lander, and Churchill County Commissions have each issued special proclamations. These county proclamations will be picked up by Pony Express Riders in Ely, Eureka, Austin and Fallon and will be delivered on horseback to the Nevada State Capitol Building.
The Pony Express original route through Nevada crossed through White Pine, Eureka, Lander and Churchill counties in Northern Nevada and is ranked among the most remarkable feats to come out of the American West. The Pony Express was in service from April 1860 to November 1861; its primary mission was to deliver mail and news between the two locations.
