Carson City weather: Cool down with showers possible through the weekend
An area of low pressure is making its return to the region, bringing a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly south of Interstate 80 this afternoon, tonight and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
A second system will phase with this first system over the weekend bringing chances for showers across all of the Sierra, northeast California, and northwest Nevada.
Snow levels will be quite high for the first system – around 11,500-12,000 feet, and with slightly cooler air coming in for the weekend, they may drop as low as 9,000 to 9,500 feet by Saturday night, according to the weather service.
Around the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, there’s a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms tonight with chances for showers Friday through Sunday. Daytime weekend temperatures will range from the mid 60s to low 70s.
The Lake Tahoe Basin will also experience a chance of showers through Sunday, with daytime highs around 60, according to the weather service.
