October 9 Fatal Crash in Mineral County near Luning resulted in one death
On Tuesday October 9th, 2018 at approximately 3:45 PM, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on US-95 at mile marker 36 in Mineral County (approximately 15 miles south of Hawthorne).
Preliminary investigation shows that a green 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV was traveling southbound on US-95 near the town of Luning.
The driver of the Suzuki failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road.
The driver input steering to the left, attempting to reenter the highway. The Suzuki traveled across the southbound and northbound travel lanes, ultimately overturning on the northbound shoulder.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Suzuki (Edna Mae Hammack, 78 year-old Black Diamond, Washington resident) succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital in Hawthorne at approximately 4:55 PM.
