Standoff in Dayton ends, suspect revived after being found unconscious by SWAT
On Thursday, Oct. 5 at 4:19 p.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Sweetwater Circle in Dayton for a report of shots fired and a male subject armed with a rifle running from an apartment in the area.
Callers to 911 reported that the male subject was then seen running into a garage of one of the adjacent apartments. LCSO Dayton patrol deputies immediately responded to the area.
As deputies arrived on scene witnesses advised that the suspect ran into a garage and was inside. Deputies approached the garage called out to the suspect however he did not come outside. As deputies called out to the garage the garage door closed and the man did not come out of the garage.
Deputies established a perimeter of the apartment and additional units responded to assist. Witnesses were interviewed and advised that the man had fired his gun at least one time while inside the apartment.
The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and crisis negotiators responded to the area. Residents in the area were advised to shelter in place while this incident took place.
Deputies called out to the suspect for several hours to no avail, so the SWAT team made entry into the garage and discovered the suspect was sitting inside of a vehicle parked in the garage.
The suspect was found unresponsive, though still armed with a handgun, and was removed from the vehicle and life saving measures were administered, to include deputies administering Narcan to the suspect.
Central Lyon County Fire Department Paramedics responded and took over lifesaving efforts and ultimately the suspect was revived and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
