Carson City arrests: Woman jailed, allegedly switched price tags on merchandise
A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street for misdemeanor petit larceny and criminal contempt of a suspended sentence after allegedly switching price tags on several pieces of merchandise, a sheriff's deputy report said.
Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a local department store on a report that a woman was switching price tags on numerous items of merchandise to secure lower prices, and that she had concealed jewelry in her purse and had put on a pair of sweat pants that she’d taken from the shelves.
Security officers of the store had her in custody when deputies arrived, and they told deputies that she had been escorted into the security office after they watched her walk past all points of sale without paying for the jewelry or sweat pants.
Deputies spoke to the woman, who told them that times were tough and she was sorry for stealing the items. Dispatch advised the woman was also on alternative sentencing with a clause to obey all laws.
The cost of the total stolen merchandise was $162.19. Bail: $852; $500 cash only.
